Origins & Name

The group was organized by Prambors FM, a Jakarta-based radio station established in 1971. Its name comes from Prambanan, Mendut, Borobudur, and their surrounding areas—hence Prambors, a contraction of these landmark names.


Purpose

Prambors FM launched the Prambors Vocal Group in the mid-1970s to promote vocal harmony and to feature on the station’s compilation albums. They sought to nurture local talent and provide a platform for aspiring singers .

The group featured six members, including siblings Noor Bersaudara: Gusti “Firzy” Firdauzy Noor, Gusti Harry Noor, Gusti F. Damayanti Noor, Gusti Ida Noor, and Nana Noor, along with Jodi W. Muhammad Noor Arumbinang, Afrieda Hutasoit, and Arie Wibowo (who later led Bill & Brod) Musik Indonesia Keren.


Style

Known for rich vocal harmonies and diverse musical arrangements, with touches of jazz and folk. Their debut album included original compositions and covers like The Beatles’ “I’ve Got A Feeling.” The track “Bingung” stands out - it later evolved into the hit “Madu dan Racun” popularized by Bill & Brod.
